On February 15th correspondence department graduates were given their certificates. After that they hold a public prayer at the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
A research center of bioethics and high technologies at the Moscow Theological Academy has recently been
established by order of the bishop of Zvenigorod Pitirim, Rector of the MThA.
On January 29 th participants of the 27 th International Educational Christmas Readings
visited the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) where they took part in the 7 th
Science and practical conference “Spiritual and moral culture in high school. Battle for Victory
75 years after”.
On January 28 th 2020 a conference “Go and teach: Orthodox Missionary work in Russian
history” took place in a VDNH’s historical park “Russia is my history”. The conference was
hold as a part of the 28 th International Educational Christmas Readings that were dedicated to the
150 th anniversary of establishment of the Orthodox Missionary organization whose statute was
approved by Alexander II in November 1869.
The publishing house of the Moscow Theological Academy has released a new book “The one voice plain
singing: a manual for practicing the eight church modes”. Tatiana Panteleeva, who is an author and a
compiler, works as a church singing senior teacher of a church-practical department and a chorister’s faculty
of the Moscow Theological Academy.
On January 20 th Julia Matveeva, PhD in study of art, gave her first lecture on “Heaven and fabrics:
iconography, liturgical practice, historical development” which took place in the MThA library.
On January 15 th Chad Hatfield, President of St. Vladimir seminary in New York and a
representative of the Orthodox church in America, visited the Moscow Theological Academy.
On December 12th the regular meeting of Dissertation Council #2 took place in the Moscow Theological Academy. The Council includes the Church History department, Church-practical department, Philology (Slavic languages) and the department of History and Theory of Church Art.
On December 9 th Department of History and Theory of Church Art hold a public meeting in the Moscow Theological Academy. It was chaired by Kvlividze N. V., Head of department. Professors, postgraduates, students as well as other guests interested in art and life of the department attended the meeting. Also a director of the Moscow Theological Academy museum was invited to the session.
On November 19th the exhibition was opened in the Moscow Theological Academy museum also known as a Church & Archeological Cabinet. The exhibition called “The siege of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Monastery. Its Defenders in heaven and on earth” tells about warriors who tried to protect the monastery and an intercession of St. Sergius and St. Nicolas the Wondermaker. The siege lasted for about 16 months from September 23rd 1608 to January 12th 1610.
On the November 11th representatives of the Moscow Theological Academy, the Institute of Coptic Studies and the Coptic Theological Seminary met in Elizabeth’s hall due to have a round table discussion dedicated to the partnership between theological institutions.
