A presentation of Archimandrite Triphon’s (Novikov) book about his thirty-year prison ministry

On May 29, Archimandrite Tryphon (Novikov), a monk of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, presented a book about his thirty-year prison ministry in the Elizabethan Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy. At the presentation there were also Achimandrite Zakharia (Shkurikhin) and Natalya Leonidovna Vysotskaya, a former teacher of the Moscow Theological Academy and a co-founder of a charity society "Faith, Hope, Love" society, which takes care of the imprisoned.

The audience consists of representatives of the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, the Youth department of the Patriarchal Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo (Moscow) led by Priest Viktor Lenk and graduates of the Moscow Theological Academy.

Archimandrite Tryphon and Archimandrite Zacharias shared their experience illustrated by many living examples. They explained the complexity as well as God’s help in pastoral ministry, which sometimes has to be performed in the most difficult physical and moral conditions. They also drew attention to the pernicious effect which uncontrolled time on the Internet has on a spiritual life.

At the end, students asked numerous questions about a spiritual life in the monastery and in the world. They expressed their hope to apply this useful knowledge in their future ministry.
