On December 27 and 28, 2023, the Moscow Theological Academy and the Russian State Humanitarian University held the VIII International Scientific Conference “Biblical and liturgical themes and images in the Eastern and Western art: dialogue of cultures, traditions and modernity”
The conference was held online. Art historians, representatives of secular and church educational institutions, artists and the museum staff gave presentations.
Moderators were Professor N.V. Kvlividze, Head of the Department of History and Theory of Church Art at the Moscow Theological Academy, and Marina G. Piven, Associate Professor of the MThA Department of History and Theory of Church Art.
During the conference, a wide range of scientific issues in storage and restoration of Christian art. In two days of the conference, participants gave 42 reports.
Speakers represented the Moscow Theological Academy were
- Nina Valerievna Kvlividze, Professor, «On the iconography of early Christian martyrs»;
- Marina Georgievna Piven, Associate Professor, «The Ascension Chapel in London designed by Mr. P. Horn (1864–1916). History of the creation and loss of the monument»;
- Anastasia Andreevna Kosivets, a second-year Master’s student, «Censer in the iconography of myrrh-bearing women at the tomb in Western European art monuments of the X-XI centyries».
