Bishop Theodorite performed the presbyter's and deacon's ordinations

16 и 17 января в Покровском храме Московской духовной академии прошли воскресные богослужения.

On January 16 and 17, the Holy Church honors the Council of the seventy apostles chosen to spread the Good News throughout the world. After the descent of the Holy Spirit, the apostles preached in different countries, performed many miracles, endured persecution and reproach for the name of Christ. Apostle Paul described it this way: “Who will separate us from the love of God: sorrow, or crampedness, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? It is written: " they kill us every day, they consider us as sheep doomed to the slaughter." The Orthodox Church established this holiday to emphasize the equal contribution of each apostle to the work of preaching the Gospel.

On January 16, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite officed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.

On January 17, the Rector together with teachers and students in the priesthood, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with an archpastoral word.

After singing the Cherubic song, Bishop Theodorite ordained a graduate student deacon Dionysius Kim into a priest.

At the end of the Eucharistic Canon, Bishop Theodorite ordained Subdeacon Alexander into a deacon.

Before taking out the Holy Chalice, Hieromonk Damian (Voronov) preached a sermon on the exploits of holy apostles.

It wasn’t only joy or success that accompanied apostles’ work of preaching the Good News. There mainly were sorrows, envy, hunger, beatings, thirst, oppression and deprivation. However, apostles endured everything. They were reviled but they blessed in return. They were beaten but they prayed for their offenders. They were persecuted, but they did not fight back. The holy apostles set the Gospel by their lives. Their words did not differ from their deeds or what they taught about».

В конце богослужения владыка Феодорит поздравил молящихся с воскресным днем.
