Sunday services at the Intercession Academic Church

6 и 7 февраля в Московской духовной академии прошли воскресные богослужения.

On February 7, the Russian Orthodox Church honours the memory of All New Martyrs and Confessors of the 20th century. Thousands of people gave their lives for the Orthodox faith and received martyr crowns from the Lord during the years of atheistic ideology. Sure, there were many Orthodox bishops, priests, monks and laymen among them. Despite arrests, tortures or betrayals, those faithful people stood courageously up for their faith and endured all sufferings.

The flowers of the Russian spiritual meadow amazingly blooming at the cruel times of persecution, countless new martyrs and confessors, saints and shepherds, monks and laity, men, women and children bringing wonderful fruit in patience to Christ, pray to Him, Who had grown you, so He will deliver His people from impiety and evil and let the Russian Church get stronger by your blood and suffering for the salvation of our souls.

On February 6, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite officed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.

On February 7, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

After reading the Holy Gospel, the Rector addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

During the Divine Liturgy, at the funeral litany, they commemorated all victims who suffered at the times of persecution for the Orthodox faith.

After singing the sacrament verse, Archpriest Sergiy Zabelich delivered a sermon.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite and the clergy of the academic church performed glorification with a prayer to the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church.
