The Academy held memorial services on Trinity parental Saturday

Today, On Saturday, June 19, the day before Holy Pentecost, the Church prays for all deceased Orthodox Christians.

From the very first days, Christians have prayed for their departed relatives and friends asking the Lord for mercy to their souls as there is no alive or dead for God.

"Let to rest with saints, Christ, Thy servants’ souls in a place, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no groaning, but an everlasting life."

On June 18, Archimandrite Luka (Golovkov) headed the Parastasis at the Intercession Academic Church, when the 17th Kathisma was read.

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently.”

On June 19, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

At the antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured Georgy Vorobyov, Sergei Gorbunov, Vadim Ivenkov, Serafim Kosenko, 3rd-year undergraduate students of the MThA, and Stanislav Satyukov, a 3rd-year undergraduate student of the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, as Readers. After that, the Rector elevated Reader Stanislav to the rank of a Subdeacon.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained Deacon Juvenaly Dementyev, a first-year student of the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, into a presbyter and Subdeacon Stanislav Satyukov into a deacon.

At the end of the Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite performed a funeral service.
