Divine services on Great Thursday at the Intercession Academic Church

On April 28 and 29, divine services of Great Thursday were held at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

This is one of the most important days for the Christian. It is the day when the Savior established the Holy Eucharist.

We do not sing “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming at midnight” any longer, because the Lord is in the upper room with His disciples to celebrate the Last Supper. They were last days before His arrest and the meal is overshadowed by a betrayal of Judas.

While glorious disciples were enlightening at the Last Supper, then Judas darkened by his wicked love for money betray the righteous Judge to the lawless judges».

However, there are the ones who do not betray the Savior and carry on the message of Christ's Resurrection around the world. As faithful Christ’s disciples, an entire academic family and parishioners of the Intercession Academic Church approach the Chalice to become participants of the Last Supper.

On April 28, Archimandrite Hilarion (Porkavets) led an evening service at the Intercession Academic Church.

On April 29, Archimandrite Benedict (Knyazev) performed the Divine Liturgy.

After singing the Sacrament verse, deacon Mikhail Yakutik, a third-year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon.

The Savior turns to us and says, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. So, it is vital for us to partake in the Divine Communion with all awareness and faith. We also have to be grateful for everything done by the Savior and for everything happening in our lives».
