Divine services on Sunday of the Paralytic

On the Fourth Sunday after Easter, the Holy Church reads the Gospel passage of healing the paralytic.

On May 14, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) led the All-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by the academic clergy.

On May 15, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

At the antiphons, Bishop Theodorite elevated reader Makariy Petukhov, a 2nd year Master’s student at the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, into a rank of a subdeacon.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

During the service, the Rector ordained Subdeacon Macariy Petukhov into a deacon.

After singing the Sacramental verse, Vladimir Zaitsev, a second-year Master’s student, delivered a sermon:

There are many people around us who are spiritually paralyzed and “do not have a person” to lower them into a healing font. The font is the Church, healing waters are Sacraments that perturbed constantly by the grace of the Holy Spirit for everyone who enter them. Each of us participating in the Sacraments resemble a person who needs to be plunged into the pool, but has “no man” except the Saviour to do so. Also, we have to believe that despite our current state, the day will come when the Lord touches us and says: “Get up and walk.”
