Inventory activities at the Moscow Theological Academy Museum

Employees of the Moscow Theological Academy Museum “Church-Archaeological Cabinet” are conducting a historical inventory of a museum collection and preparing its items for a further publication. It turned out that the collection needs a deeper study and no longer meets modern museum standards. Therefore, staff of the museum with the help of volunteer students of the Moscow Theological Academy carried out accounting, photographing, dusting and labeling of the exhibits.

In the future, the collection will be ready for a scientific research by a group of specialists from the Moscow Kremlin Museums, the Andrei Rublev’s Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery.

The Museum of the Moscow Theological Academy firstly was established as an auditorium; however, 150 years later it grew from the Church-archaeological study into the Museum of Christian Art with the richest collection. For the first time in history, the masterpieces of the collection will soon be available to anyone interested in Christian art.
