The Academy celebrated Sunday of the Myrrophores

On the third week after Easter, the Church honors the memory of Marys who went to see the sepulcher, bearing species.

They also were with Christ on His Way to the Cross and after the crucifixion, went to anoint the Body of the Savior with fragrant ointment.

«Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him».

Walking to the tomb of the Lord, the women said among themselves, «Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?» They didn’t know that before their arrival, an Angel had rolled it away and made the guards leave their post in horror. The God's messenger told them that Christ had risen.

«But go, tell His disciples - and Peter - that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you».

On May 15, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.

Before reading the Kathisma, Maxim Ivanchuk, a 3rd year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon about an exceptional example of love shown by myrrophores:

"Remembering holy myrrophores, we gratefully honor our Christian women carrying invisible, outwardly imperceptible, but important work that supports and makes other deeds successful."

On May 16, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church.

At the antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured Dimitri Baklanov, a 4th-year student of the St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Institute, as a reader and ordained him into a rank of subdeacon.

After reading the Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word. After reading the Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.
