MThA Hosts Its First "White Fortress" Historical Fencing Tournament

On February 8, 2026, the III Open Historical Fencing Tournament "White Fortress" was held at the Moscow Theological Academy.

The event was organized by the "Pyatnitskaya Tower" student historical fencing and reconstruction club. This was the first time that the historical fencing tournament, dedicated to the memory of the peasants Nicon Shilov and Peter Slota, who died heroically in 1608 while defending the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, was held at the MThA.

Over the course of 8 hours, 52 fighters from more than 10 historical fencing and reconstruction clubs from Moscow and the Moscow region fought for victory in five categories.

The fighters of the organizing club "Pyatnitskaya Tower" performed worthily in all categories, demonstrating good training and a will to win. Polina Irisova, a student of the Icon Painting Faculty, particularly distinguished herself by taking second place in the "Shield - Axe" category.

The atmosphere at the tournament was truly friendly and sporting. Participants supported each other, while the judges and organizers ensured order and compliance with the regulations.
