An annual meeting of the Academic Council

On December 29, 2023, a meeting of the Academic Council took place at the Elizabethan Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy. 

The Bishop of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, opened the meeting and congratulated the anniversaries on their memorable dates. The Rector presented the Order of the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, III degree, to Priest Sergius Eliseev, a teacher of the Theology Department of the Moscow Theological Academy, awarded by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the occasion of the 50th birth anniversary.

During the meeting, Hegumen Adrian (Pashin), Secretary of the Academic Council, was elected as the Head of the Theology Department. 

In addition, the Council chose two candidates for the academic title of Associate Professor. 

Selected candidates for academic titles will be considered by the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church and His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill.

At the meeting, Archpriest Alexander Zadornov, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Theological Work, gave a report on the scientific and theological work of the Academy in 2023 and presented a plan for the coming 2024. 

The Academic Council adopted the Regulations on the Students’ Scientific Society of the Moscow Theological Academy and approved the curriculum for the 2024/2025 academic year. 

The Academic Council considered the work of the Academic Dissertation Councils. 

Archpriest Sergiy Maratkanov, Head of the Correspondence Studies Department, presented the results of the final certification at the Department of Correspondence Studies. 

The Academic Council also heard a report from Deacon Dimitry Serov, Director of the MThA Publishing House, about its work in 2023.

In conclusion, the Rector congratulated the teaching corporation on New Year and Christmas and wished everyone God's help in their work for the benefit of the Church and the Academy.
