The Academy offioced Divine services on Friday of the Bright Week

On Friday of the Bright Week, the Church especially honors the Mother of God. On this day, believers remember Her great miracle as well as a renovation of the church in Her honor.

In the 5th century, Leo Markell, a noble warrior and the future emperor, met an exhausted blind traveler in a forest, who could not find his way home. Leo helped the poor wanderer to get to the cool of the shade and went in search of water. At that time he saw an apparition of the Mother of God, Who showed him a spring commanding to give the poor man some water and anoint his eyes with mud, after which he recovered his sight.

«Rejoice, Life-Giving Source, showing miracles over the seas and over the entire universe. A smart ocean surpassing the streams of the Nile with the outpouring of grace, Siloame the second, exuding water like from a glorious stone and reflecting Jordan's act, salutary Manna being for all seeking demand, truly rich and unenviable, Christ's Virgin Mother, pouring Your great mercy out on the world».

During his reign, Lev Markell erected a church in honor of the Mother of God on that place and called the spring "Life-Giving Source".

When Turks had captured Constantinople, the church was demolished and rebuilt only in the 19th century. Since then, the Holy Church has commemorated the event. It happens annually on Friday of the Bright Week.

On May 6, Hegumen Dionisiy (Shlenov) officed an evening service at the Intercession Academic Church.

On May 7, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

After the rite of consecrating water, everyone went on a procession around the Intercession church.
