The MThA students brought an attention of Sergiev Posad citizens to the problem of artificial abortion
On February 6 th an MThA first-year Bachelor student Pavel Denisik organized a public awareness campaign on one of Sergiev Posad lively streets. He told the passers-by some interesting facts about prenatal development and illustrated some periods by showing realistic human-like models.
In the end Pavel shared his impressions:
I asked young ladies some simple questions such as “When does a human life start?”, “In which period of pregnancy does a heart start beating?”, “Do you consider an abortion as a killing?” That was how our dialogues started and then I showed them some interesting facts. For example, a human heart starts beating on the 21st day of pregnancy. A quick survey gave shocking results that hardly anyone is aware of that. The campaign went rather positively, one of the girls even thanked for an important job we were doing.
During this campaign MThA students got to know with medical college students and agreed to organise further creative campaigns which would serve as a deterrent for abortion.
Bishop of Zvenigorod Pitirim, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, supported a student’s zeal.
It is rather promising that our student are not indifferent to the soundless scream of kids who would never be born and they try to do something in order to save those interrupted lives. A child murder is an appalling deed. Kids massacre is a national catastrophe. Nowadays clerical and public organisations do their best to stop this tragedy. We cannot stand aside but have to contribute to protecting these new lives. The MThA students systematically visit prisons, hospitals and hospices. I hope that such life-protecting campaigns also become regular..
Giving his speech during annual Christmas Parliamentary meetings in the Federation Council on January 28th, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia brought an attention of Russian society to the problem of abortion.

Она легко решается, если мы сокращаем на порядок количество абортов. За 10 лет численность населения вырастет на 10 миллионов, если добиться прогресса в предотвращении и искоренении абортов из нашей жизни».
In 2018 there were more than 560 000 registered abortion cases in Russia while the population of Sergiev Posad were 103 444 people.
