The MThA students took part in the conference “Life, work and spiritual heritage of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) and New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church of the XX century”

On March 3, the Sretenskaya Theological Academy hosted the Third Historical and Theological Conference “Life, work and spiritual heritage of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) and New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church of the XX century» organised by the Scientific Center for Patrological Research of the Theology Department named after Professor A. I. Sidorov.

Deacon Vyacheslav Masin, a postgraduate student at the Moscow Theological Academy, gave a report on “Views of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) on the problematic relationship between the world and a monastery in the context of social service done by monasteries”. He spoke about the controversy that took place in church journalism on the issue of the charity service that monasteries carry out in the world.

Deacon Dimitry F’edorov gave a report on "Archpriest Anatoly Petrovich Orlov as a student and a teacher of the Moscow Theological Academy". He highlighted the most important stages in life of the first elected Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, Archpriest Anatoly Petrovich Orlov. The speaker described his student’s life, teaching career at the Academy and touched upon the reasons for electing him as the Rector. 

At the further discussion, Deacon Dimitry briefly covered the rest of Archpriest Anatoly’s life as a presbyter and spoke about his martyrdom in 1937.
