MThA Students Visit The Tver Region

From February 23 to 27, 2026, students of the Moscow Theological Academy participated in missionary practice within the Tver Diocese, implemented as part of a cooperation agreement between the Moscow Theological Academy, the Tver Diocese, and the Tver city administration signed in 2021.

As part of the educational project "Talks About The Main Thing". the seminarians visited Tver for the fourteenth time. During the week, they held meetings with students in grades 8-11 at eight educational institutions in the city: schools No. 11, 29, 34, 45, 48, 52, gymnasium No. 10, and the A. Atroshchanka Education Center.

During the discussions, issues related to moral choices and worldview orientations were addressed, including themes of freedom and responsibility, relationships with peers, life ideals, the value of human life, and the influence of the digital environment on modern people. It was noted that Academy students undergo preliminary pedagogical training necessary for participation in such educational activities.

On March 24, 2026, students of the Moscow Theological Academy visited the SIZO-1 remand prison in Tver. The event was held as part of the development of interaction with institutions of the penal system established by an agreement signed in October 2021 by the Rector of the Academy, Bishop Theodorit of Zvenigorod, and Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashin.

During the visit to the remand prison, the students toured its grounds, visited the church dedicated to the "Surety Of Sinners" Icon of the Mother of God, and visited a memorial room dedicated to the memory of Archbishop Thaddeus (Uspensky) of Tver. 

The central event of the visit was a round table with the participation of juvenile detainees. During the meeting, issues of life choice, responsibility, and the consequences of illegal actions were discussed. The conversation took place in an open dialogue format. At the end of the meeting, the seminarians performed spiritual hymns. A tour of the remand prison premises was also organized for them.

On March 27, following the results of the missionary practice, a meeting was held between students of the Moscow Theological Academy and the head of the Tver Metropolia, Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashin.
