Students and Their Fiances Receive Blessing for Marriage

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them,” says the Lord, addressing these words to His disciples and to His Church. Yet, these same words apply to the family - to spouses who build their lives upon a firm foundation, on the cornerstone which is Christ.

Since Apostolic times, the Christian family has been compared to the Church, where all are gathered by the Holy Spirit in unity, harmony, and love. The family is a "Little Church" that unites two individuals into one body and one spirit.

On January 22, two couples visited the Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, to receive his blessing for entering into a sacred union:

  • Ioann Lisnichenko, 2nd-year Master’s student, and Yulia Kopeiko;
  • Alexander Matyushchenko, 4th-year Bachelor’s student, and Maria Lapshina.

As a memento, His Grace the Rector presented the future spouses with gifts: the Holy Scriptures and the Icon of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God.
