Academy Students Visit Tver for Missionary Practice

Between February 1 and 6, 2026, students of the Moscow Theological Academy went on a missionary trip to the Tver Diocese. The students visited schools and gymnasiums in Tver.

The mission was curated by Archpriest Vadim Zhelyabovsky, Dean of the Second Church District of the city of Tver. The students held talks for middle and high school students on topics such as the meaning of life, family, friendship, and love.

On February 4, the students visited Remand Prison No. 1 in Tver. A tour of the territory was conducted by Archpriest Mikhail Belyaev, Chairman of the Diocesan Prison Service Department. He introduced the students to the life of the Orthodox community of inmates. In one of the prison offices, a meeting with juvenile offenders was held, during which the inmates shared their stories, and the students spoke about their path to the priesthood.

On February 6, a meeting with representatives of Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashin was held at the Holy Ascension Cathedral in Tver. After a glorification service at the relics of Hieromartyr Thaddeus, the missionaries were presented with certificates of appreciation. During lunch, the students shared their impressions of the trip with the church hierarchy, spoke about the difficulties of missionary practice, and discussed issues of pastoral service.

The missionary practice of the Moscow Theological Academy students in the Tver Diocese is conducted under a cooperation agreement between the Academy and the Tver Metropolis.

The trip was the twelfth under this program, which is aimed at preparing future pastors and strengthening the spiritual bond between theological schools and dioceses.
