MThA Rector Bishop Kirill Meets with Newly Admitted Students

During the first week of the academic year, newly admitted students of the Moscow Theological Academy are getting acquainted with life at the theological school. Each day, they will listen to introductory lectures prepared by professors of the main theological disciplines and learn about the various aspects of Academy life.

On September 2, new students from the bachelor's, master's, church music, and icon-painting faculties met with the Rector of MThA, Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov.

Opening the meeting, the rector congratulated the students on their admission to the theological school and expressed his hope that their time of living and studying at the Academy would be a fruitful and beneficial period for them in terms of cultivating personal qualities, gaining spiritual experience, and intellectual development.

Bishop Kirill urged the students not to become complacent with the atmosphere of their student life but to constantly nurture a sense of reverence for the holy in their souls and to remember the purpose for which they are studying at a theological institution.

During the conversation, the rector touched on topics related to the personal responsibility of a clergyman before the Church and the community. He noted that the fear of God, which is the key to a good and sacrificial ministry, must be cultivated in one's soul even during the period of study at a theological school.

At the end of the meeting, the bishop answered students' questions and shared interesting and instructive examples from his own life.

Following the meeting, Bishop Kirill presented the new students with a commemorative Bible.
