Festive services on the Day of Presentation Christ to the Holy Temple

Today the Church rejoices together with righteous Simeon the God-Receiver, who hold the Savior into his hands. The meeting of the blessed old man with pure sinless Infant Child symbolically represents the meeting of the Old and New Testaments.

Celebrating this day, the clergy and parishioners of nowadays, just like righteous Simeon, have a great honor to meet the Savior in a sacrament of the Holy Communion.

On February 14, Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, and the Bishop of Amur and Chegdomynsk Nikolay officed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.

While singing the praising stichera, Bishop Theodorite ordained Reader Philip Bakhtin, four-year Bachelor student, into a subdeacon.

On February 15, the Bishop of Amur and Chegdomynsk Nikolay together with Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

During the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, ordained subdeacon Philip Bakhtin into a deacon.

After the sacrament verse, Hieromonk Varnava (Losev), Dean of the Intercession Academic Church, read a message from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the Day of Orthodox Youth.

Then, a first-year graduate student Hierodeacon Pavel (Polevoy) delivered a sermon.
