The MThA Faculty of Church Singing Arts held a methodological meeting

On November 16, the Faculty of Church Singing Arts of the Moscow Theological Academy held a methodological meeting on the organization of scientific and pedagogical activities aimed at the practice of scientific supervision of final qualifying work (known as the FQR).

The main report was made by Professor Natalya Ilyinichna Efimova, Dr. of Art History, Assistant dean at the faculty of Church Singing Art, an honorary worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation, Vice-rector for scientific work at Academy of Choral Art named after V.S. Popova.

In her speech, she invited her colleagues to pay attention to the main goals of the FQR, among which she highlighted the systematization of the knowledge, skills and abilities accumulated over the years of study. Overall, they allow to navigate the specialized literature, master professional terminology, formulate and argue one’s own methods of analytical and methodological work.

The report touched on the topics of quality and effectiveness of scientific supervision and the role of a scientific tutor in supporting students’ motivation.

Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that the bachelor's thesis is work with elements of research. First of all, it involves understanding current sources that allow you to reveal the chosen topic, the ability to work with the sources and cite them correctly. 

At the end of the methodological meeting, participants shared their points of view. Natalya I. Efimova answered her colleagues’ questions and suggested some prospects for the future work of the faculty. They highlighted the priority of topics for future graduate research projects in order to form a practice-oriented direction.
