Moscow Theological Academy together with Orthodox St. Tikhon’s Humanitarian University (PSTGU) held a conference "Non-Biblical Motifs in Biblical Exegesis"
On February 19, a student scientific conference "Non-Biblical Motifs in Biblical Exegesis" took place at the Moscow Theological Academy as part of an academic discussion project 15:4.
The organizers were the Cabinet of Oriental Studies, the MThA Students Council and the Department of Eastern Christian Philology and Oriental Churches of PSTGU. The conference was attended by both MThA and PSTGU students:
- Nadezhda Zvezdochetova, a PSTGU student, gave a report on “The Apocryphal Correspondence of Pontius Pilate and His Image in It”;
- Elizaveta Dmitrieva, a PSTGU student, gave a report on "Reconstructing details of the biblical history as an exegetic tool (on the example of the sacrifice of Isaac)";
- Pyotr Trofimov, a second-year MThA Master's student, gave a report on “The Mysterious Youth: Who Came to Christ in a Veil?”;
- Aleksey Afanasiev, a second-year MThA undergraduate student, gave a report on "The image of the Pharisee in the Jewish wars of Josephus."
The discussions followed each presentation. At the end of the event, a plan was drawn up for further cooperation between students of two universities and the speakers were presented with memorable gifts.
After summing up the results of the conference, PSTGU students were taken to observe the cultural heritage of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy.
