Events dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Prince Alexander of Neva
In 2021, the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Prince Alexander of Neva 2021 gets an all-Russian celebration. The Moscow Theological Academy takes an active part by implementing its own educational media project "Alexander of Neva", which became possible thanks to the financial support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
Within the framework of the project, an innovative Internet resource has already been creating. It will contain comprehensive information about the life, era and legacy of Prince Alexander. The editorial board included specialists from the Moscow Theological Academy, as well as representatives of Russian leading universities. Visitors of the site will be able to access to an animated film, audio podcasts, rare museum photos, video lectures, games, interactive tests and maps with text headings.
First of all, the project addresses a younger generation and is designed for a wide audience regardless their religious views, - says the project manager, Priest Anatoly Kolot. Our main aim is not only tell about the personality of Prince Alexander of Neva, but also make it interesting. Therefore, while making the site, we take into consideration the latest technologies and trends in educational sphere. While maintaining the authenticity of the historical content, we try to present information in an interesting, sometimes even entertaining way, and most importantly use a language that is relevant for young people».
In addition, the Days of Alexander of Neva take place in May 2021 at the Moscow Theological Academy. They include a series of public lectures from leading Russian historians, which are open not only to students of the Academy but to everybody else.
