Bishop Theodorite officed a New Year's prayer service
On December 31, on New Year's Eve, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed a New Year prayer service at the Intercession Academic Church.
Before the prayer service, the Rector addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word. Bishop Theodorite said that we need to thank God for everything that happened this year. He wished everyone to become closer to Him and resist to all obstacles that might shake our faith.
Teachers, students of the Academy and parishioners took part in a service.
In chants and prayers of the day, they thanked God for peace and His longsuffering, asked for guarding the Church unity and the Orthodox faith, and pleaded for mercy in a year to come.
“We thank you for your bounties that You have recently performed on us and we pray to You, the all-generous Lord! Bless the crown of the coming year with Your goodness. Grant good from above to Your people such as health, salvation and success in everything. Save Thu Holy Church, save this city and all cities and countries from the evil, bestow peace and serenity on them. " Церковь Твою Святую, град сей и вся грады и страны от всякаго злаго обстояния избави, мир и безмятежие тем даруй».
After the prayer service, the administration and students of the Academy went to a yard at the new students' residence to see firework display, lit Christmas lights and take photos at the New Year tree.
