Academy celebrated Christmas

On January 6 and 7, the Rector Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite led Christmas services at the Intercession Academic Church.

The incarnation of the Word is joyous news to all mankind, as the Creator of everything visible and invisible has become one of us. He did not come in glory, nor as a magnificent king. He humbly appeared on the earth in weakness and contempt. That first night He was rejected, and no one welcomed Him under his roof. Though God loved the world so much that he did not despise humiliation and persecution. He incarnated so that everyone who believes in Him would not perish, but have an eternal life.

On Christmas, we greet the One who through coming to the world has saved people from death and opened the gates to the Kingdom for us.

"As equal to mortals, You have come, the Almighty, voluntarily accepting flesh from the Virgin to destroy the poison of the snake's head, leading everyone, God, by nature, to the life-giving light from the gates devoid of the sun."

6 января праздничное всенощное бдение в Покровском академическом храме совершил епископ Звенигородский Феодорит.

At night on January 6-7, Bishop Theodoret together with teachers and students in the priesthood performed the festive Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic church.

Bishop Theodorite ordained a reader Constantine Sokolov, a student of the 2 Master's course of the Moscow Theological Academy, into a subdeacon.

After reading the Holy Gospel, the Rector addressed an assembly with an archpastoral word.

After the Eucharistic Canon, Bishop Theodorite ordained Subdeacon Constantine Sokolov into a deacon.

After the Sacrament verse, Hieromonk Varnava (Losev), Dean of the Intercession Academic Church, read the Nativity Epistle of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to archpastors, pastors, deacons, monastics and all the faithful children of the Russian Orthodox Church.

В конце Божественной литургии ректор и клир Покровского храма совершили славление Рождеству Христову, после чего владыка поздравил молящихся с праздником.
