12th Issue of the Journal "Tserkovny Istorik" Released
The twentieth issue of the journal "Tserkovny Istorik" has been released by the Moscow Theological Academy, the second issue for 2025. The editor-in-chief of this scholarly journal is Professor Alexey Konstantinovich Svetozarsky, Head of the Department of Church History.
The issue features research by faculty and students dedicated to the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, national and world history, as well as church-historical sources.
Contents of the twentieth issue:
"The Phenomenon of False Revelations During the 'Plague Riot' of 1654 in Moscow" – Pavel Olegovich Berezin, Master's student at the Moscow Theological Academy;
"The Emergence and Spread of Orthodoxy on the Territory of Kazakhstan During the Process of Its Territories Joining the Russian Empire (1731–1871)" – Protopriest Evgeny Gennadievich Ivanov, postgraduate student at the Department of Church History and General Humanities of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Church-wide Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies;
"The Moscow Theological Academy During the Period of the First Russian Revolution in the Diaries of L. A. Tikhomirov" – Pavel Evgenievich Lipovetsky, Candidate of Theology, Associate Professor at the Department of Church History of the Moscow Theological Academy;
"The Ministry of Archbishop Bartholomew (Gondarovsky) in Central Asia in 1972–1987" – Oleg Alexandrovich Shabalin, postgraduate student at the Moscow Theological Academy;
"State Regulation and the Role of Hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Development of Theological Education in Russia in the First Half of the 18th Century" – Yaroslav Sergeevich Tyurin, Master's student at the Moscow Theological Academy.
The journal's authors include representatives of the MThA and other educational institutions and research organizations, as well as students of the Department of Church History.
