Annual meeting of the Joint Doctoral Dissertation Council
On December 29, a regular meeting of the Joint Doctoral Dissertation Council chaired by the Bishop of Istra Seraphim took place at the conference hall of the Russian Orthodox Church Educational Committee. The meeting attended by 20 council members included representatives of the Moscow Theological Academy, the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and the Minsk Theological Academy.
Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, Chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church Study Committee, opened the meeting and greeted members of the Doctoral Council.
The Council heard 18 reports from applicants for the Doctor of Theology degree on their scientific activity in 2021. They were warned to prepare a sufficient number of publications relevant to the international databases such as Scopus and Web of Science as well as in the list of peer-reviewed publications of the Higher Attestation Committee of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The Council also considered and approved a petition of Hegumen Dionisy (Shlenov), Professor at the Philology Department of the Moscow Theological Academy, to consolidate the topic of his doctoral dissertation “Aretology in Greek ascetic literature (IV-XV centuries)”.
In addition, they approved Archpriest Dmitry Yurevich’s petition to clarify the topic of his doctoral dissertation "Features of the exegesis of evangelical events in the light of biblical archeology."
At the end of the meeting, the Bishop of Istra Seraphim thanked the participants for their hard work and congratulated them on the upcoming Christmas.
