The Academy celebrated the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

On November 4, the Holy Church honors commemorates the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This holiday is established in honor of the 1612 victory of the Russian army and liberation of the Kremlin from the Poles. After that, citizens prayfully thanked the Mother of God and Her Kazan image.

The Kazan image of the Mother of God was especially venerated by Russian people. For example, parents bless their children on starting a family.

On November 3, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed an All-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

Vladimir Kuznetsov, a 4th-year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon.

On November 4, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church together with the clergy of an academic church.

During the singing of antiphons, Vladyka tonsured 2nd-year undergraduate students Arseny Ivanov, Maxim Zuev, Rodion Arslanov and a 4th year student Roman Mirov as Readers.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained a 4th year student Deacon Mikhail Yakutik into a priest and Subdeacon Roman Mirov into a deacon.

Before the Communion, Hegumen Gerasim (Dyachkov) delivered a sermon.

At the end of the service, Bishop Theodorite and the clergy of the academic church performed the glorification to the Most Holy Theotokos.
