The Academy held Divine Services on Monday of the First Week of the Lent

The liturgical texts of the Great Lent is extremely deep and extraordinarily beautiful. They turn out to be a real treasure for our souls and reflect them in a mysterious divine light.

They refer to ancient times, to the Old Testament, so we can see parallels with biblical history and revive the word of God in our hearts today.

In the Lent, the Christians like people of Israel, have to cross the sea of life guided by Christ the Savior, drown a mental pharaoh with the Tree of the Cross and reach the Promised Land celebrating Easter.

On February morning 27, the Rector, teachers and students gathered at the Intercession Church to take part in the Monday service of the first week of the Lent, which consisted of Matins, Hours, Pictorial and Vespers.

Traditionally, the reading on the first day of the Lent is done by the academic clergy.

After the Vespers, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) and the academic clergy performed the lithia for the dead.

In the evening, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill read the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete.
