Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church in memory of St. Martyr John Popov

On February 8, the Russian Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Martyr John Popov, who was a professor at the Moscow Theological Academy and suffered for his faith during the repression times.

On February 8, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

At the Hours, the Rector elevated Alexander Pochtovoy, a third-year undergraduate student, into a subdeacon.

After the Eucharistic Canon, Bishop Theodorite ordained Subdeacon Alexander into a deacon.

After the sacrament verse, Alexander Terent’ev, a second-year Master's student, delivered a sermon.

At the end of the service, Bishop Theodorite and the clergy of the academic church sang the glorification to St. Martyr John.
