The Academy celebrated the memory of New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church

On February 5 and 6, Sunday services took place at the Moscow Theological Academy.

Today, the Russian Orthodox Church remembers New Martyrs and Confessors of the XX century, who were tortured for their faith. Also, it’s the memory of St. Blessed Ksenia of St. Petersburg.

On February 5, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed an All-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.

At the Canon, Bishop Theodorite elevated Vadim Zhilkov, a third-year year undergraduate student, into a subdeacon.

On February 6, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

At the antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured third-year undergraduate students Boris Semyonov, Maxim Terebun, Seraphim Kobulei, and Vyacheslav Gvozdetsky as readers.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

At the funeral litany, the faithful prayed for those, who suffered during the repressions and a religious persecution of the XX century.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained Deacon Alexander Lebedev, a first-year Master's student, into a presbyter and subdeacon Vadim Zhilkov into a deacon.

After the sacrament verse, Mikhail Akimkin, a second-year Master's student, delivered a sermon.

At the end of the service, the Rector of the Academy and the academic clergy sang a glorification to New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church.
