The Academy celebrated Epiphany

Epiphany is a day when the Christians glorify the Most Holy Trinity, Lord Jesus Christ, God’s voice of the Father and the Holy Spirit appearing as a dove. The Theophany happened in the waters of the river Jordan, where the Savior had come to receive His baptism from John the Baptist.

«“The Most Merciful Christ, take away many sins for the sake of Your immeasurable mercy, You going to be baptized by Jordan waters like a Man, cloth me being naked for ages with Your glory”

On January 17, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) officed the Vespers, the Small Compline and the Matins on Epiphany Eve.

On January 18, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) led the Great Vespers and performed the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great co-served by the clergy of the Intercession Academic Church.

At the service, there is a tradition to read thirteen extracts from the Old Testament, which illustrate how God’s Grace acted through water.

After the ambo prayer, Archimandrite Platon led the rite of the Great Water Blessing. The he sprinkled the church and its parishioners with holy water.

At the end of the service, the clergy of the academic church sang the glorification of the Epiphany.
