Holy Saturday services at the Intercession Academic Church

On Saturday, having endured terrible sufferings on the Cross the Lord Jesus Christ experienced the death and descended into hell in order to bring His creation out crushing the power of darkness.

On April 23, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite performed Vespers and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at the Intercession Academic Church.

Following the special litany, a prayer "For peace in the Holy Land" was read.

Instead of the Cherubic Hymn, the choir sang a troparion "Let all human flesh be silent".

After the Great Entrance, Bishop Theodorite ordained Hierodeacon John (Merzlyakov), a third-year postgraduate student, into a presbyter.

Before the Communion, Hieromonk Pavel (Polevoi), a second-year Master's student, delivered a sermon.

After the prayer beyond the ambo, the Rector blessed the bread and wine.
