On the Myrrhbearers Sunday, the Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy performed the Divine Liturgy at the seminarian church in honor of St. John the Climacus

Time goes by and each day brings new feelings, emotions and states, which a person sometimes does not have time to comprehend or evaluate. Joy and inspiration, confusion and sadness overflow his heart with excitement or a rebellious spirit.

Festive Easter services fill the heart with a quiet and serene joy about the Resurrected Savior. This spiritual state we can maintain by participating in common prayer and receiving communion.

To be worth it, it is necessary to kindle the fire of fidelity and love for Christ following an example of the Myrrhbearers.

Today the Church of Christ prayerfully honors the memory of women who first brought the news about Christ’s Resurrection to the world. They were with the Lord until the end, even when the most faithful disciples fled away in fear. Doing this the Myrrhbearers showed an image of true fidelity and devoted love. On this day, they summon Christians to follow their example and experience a spiritual joy.

On April 29, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officiated an All-Night Vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by the academic clergy.

Before the Kathisma, Denis Konstantinov, a fourth-year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon. In his speech, the preacher spoke about the meaning of the Myrrhbearers’ deed in the modern world.

During the Canon, Bishop Kirill elevated Reader Nikita Surkov, a second-year undergraduate student of the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, into the rank of subdeacon.

On April 30, Bishop Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the seminarian church in honor of St. John the Climacus co-served by the academic clergy.

After the Eucharistic Canon, the Rector ordained Subdeacon Nikita Surkov into a deacon.

After the Sacramental verse Alexander Inogamov, a first year Master's student, delivered a sermon.

After the final prayer, the clergy sang the glorification to the Myrrhbearers in front of the icon of Christ’s Resurrection.

After the dismissal, Bishop Kirill addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

After the thanksgiving prayers, the Rector congratulated students of the Church Singing Art Faculty at the Moscow Theological Academy with a day of the Myrrhbearers.
