Annual meeting of the Academic Council
On December 27, the teachers and professors corporation of the Moscow Theological Academy gathered for the end of the year meeting, which was held in a blended format.
The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, opened the meeting with giving an honour to a memory of a departed Honored Professor Konstantin Efimovich Skurat. Members of the Academic Council sang "Eternal Memory" to the deceased.
Then the Scientific Council agreed to send a petition to nominate Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) and Archpriest Vladislav Tsypin as Honored Professors.
The Scientific Council heard a report on the MThA Dissertation Councils activity in 2021. The Rector gave certificates and badges of PhD in Theology to
- priest Nikita Kuznetsov, a teacher of the Kazan Theological Seminary (thesis “Conceptual foundations for assessing church-state relations in Russian canon law of the mid-19th - early 20th centuries”),
- Yuriy Sergeevich Dmitriev, a teacher at the Moscow Theological Academy (thesis "Possession of the Trinity-Sergius monastery in Serebozhskaya and Rozhdestvenskaya volost of Pereslavl district before the secularization of 1764").
Archpriest Alexander Zadornov, Associate Professor and Vice-Rector for Scientific and Theological Work, gave a report on the scientific and theological work in 2021 and presented a plan for the coming period in 2022.
Archpriest Sergiy Maratkanov, Associate Professor and Head of the correspondence department, gave a report on the final certification at the correspondence department.
The Academic Council accepted the given reports on the first semester and approved the working plans for the second semester of the academic year.
The Academic Council also heard a report given by the Rector Bishop Theodorite on the results of the inspection done by the Education Committee.
In conclusion, Bishop Theodorite congratulated everyone on coming winter holidays and wished God's help in working for the good of the Church and the Academy next year.
