Services of Parental Saturday (Dimitrievskaya) at the Moscow Theological Academy
On October 29 and 30, divine services of Dimitrievskaya parental Saturday held at the Intercession Academic Church. On those days, the Christians especially pray for their departed relatives and the ones innocently killed or imprisoned.
On October 29, Hegumen Adrian (Pashin) led the funeral evening service co-served by the clergy of an academic church.
On October 30, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.
While singing antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured 4th year undergraduate students Mark Kuzevanov, Ilya Merkulov and 3rd year undergraduate students Sergei Dragan, Evgeny Torkunov as Readers.
During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained Deacon Eugene Firsa, 2nd year Master’s student, into a priest and Subdeacon Anatoly Mikhailov, a 1st year Master’s student, as a deacon.
At the end of the Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite performed a funeral lithany.
Background information:
The Russian Orthodox Church Holy Synod taken on September 23 and 24, 2021, decreed to perform funeral services on October 30all around the country for all Orthodox Christians innocently killed or imprisoned by the God-fighters.
During the evening service, chanting performed by a second academic choir under the conduct of V.V. Chuvilov and a mixed choir led by K.A. Alekseeva.
During the Divine Liturgy, chanting performed by a singing group conducted by Ioann Bondaruk.
