The Moscow Theological Academy hosted a public speaking competition

On December 17, the final of the Speech competition took place in the Great Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy. The competition has been held for three years. This year it was attended also by students from the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

At the finals there were eight students from three educational institutions. The jury included representatives of all three universities, in particular, Vladimir Romanovich Legoyda, MGIMO professor, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations of the Church with Society and the Media, a member of the Public Chamber, PhD in Political Sciences, and Alexey Pavlovich Kozyrev, Dean of the Philosophy Faculty of the Moscow State University, PhD in Philosophical sciences. The Moscow Theological Academy was represented by Archimandrite Simeon (Tomachinsky), Associate Professor of the Philology Department, and Lyudmila Vyacheslavovna Prokhorenko, Head of the Educational and methodological department.

At the opening, the academic choir under the conduct of Alexander Leventsov performed a medieval students’ anthem “Gaudeamus”. Then presenters Denis Konstantinov and Liliya Shevchuk introduced the jury members and participants, after which the draw took place.

Students of the Moscow theological Academy were the winners:

First place - Sergey Konkov (a fourth-year undergraduate student). 

Second place - Alexander Volchenkov (Master's degree). 

Third place - Alexey Melnikov (a second-year undergraduate degree).

Special prizes were also awarded to:

Nikita Melnikov (MSU) - “For interaction with the audience”,

Kirill Ocherekin (MGIMO) - “For the depth of disclosure of the topic”, 

Andrey Zenovich (MSU) - “For originality”.

Sergei Konkov also received The Audience Award.

Vladimir Romanovich Legoyda, Alexey Pavlovich Kozyrev and Archimandrite Simeon (Tomachinsky) presented the prizes and commented on the results of the competition.

The Speech competition is held at the Moscow Theological Academy as an educational activity to develop public-speaking skills among seminarians.
