The Moscow Theological Academy hosted a public speaking competition

On December 25, 2022, the final round of the public speaking competition took place in the Great Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy.

Taking part in a competition is a great opportunity for students to show their creativity and develop their public speaking skills in an alternative educational format.

The participants were undergraduate and Master’s students of the theological and pastoral faculty of the Academy.

The jury consists of the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy; V. R. Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and Media, Professor at the MGIMO; E.V. Kharchenko, Deputy at the State Duma of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman at the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on Science and Higher Education; D. A. Melnikov, Rector of the Moscow Social and Pedagogical Institute; Archimandrite Simeon (Tomachinsky), Associate Professor at the MThA Philology Department; Hegumen Meletiy (Sokolov), Associate Professor at the MThA Philology Department; L.V. Prokhorenko, Senior Lecturer at the MThA Philology Department.

The competition had several round. As a result, 10 best participants were selected for the final performance on the stage.

There were some extra nominations such as «For the depth of disclosure the topic», «For an original idea», «For interaction with the audience» and the Audience Choice Award.

At the end, jury members shared their impressions and gave some useful pieces of advice on how to improve speaking skills and communicate effectively with the audience.
