The Joint Doctoral Dissertation Council took place at the Minsk Theological Academy
On June 12, 2023, a meeting of the Joint Doctoral Dissertation Council of the Moscow Theological Academy, the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, the Minsk Theological Academy and the Sretenskaya Theological Academy took place at the Minsk Theological Academy.
The Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Veniamin, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, opened the meeting with a welcoming speech. He noted an importance of holding meetings of the Doctoral Dissertation Council in Minsk as a way of the further development of the Russian-Belarusian scientific and theological cooperation. Then, a word was given to the chairman of the Doctoral Dissertation Council, the Bishop of Istra Seraphim, who expressed his gratitude to the Patriarchal Exarch and the Rector and professors of the Minsk Theological Academy for organizing the event. In his speech Bishop Seraphim noted two important factors for the prosperity of a church life like the monasticism and the theological science.
At the meeting, the Council discussed a draft document on the peer review criteria for doctoral dissertations proposed by V.Ya. Savrey. As a result, a number of clarifications were made to the document.
In addition, some petitions for attachment to the academic Doctoral Council were considered from Priest Mikhail Legeev, PhD in Theology, Associate Professor at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, and Priest Vitaly Gulyaev, PhD in Theology, a lecturer at the Novosibirsk Theological Seminary.
At the end, the Council viewed applicant reports on doctoral dissertations in 2021-2022 academic year.
