The MDA Publishing House released a monograph dedicated to St. Nicholas of Serbia (Velimirovich)
The Publishing House of the Moscow Theological Academy has released a monograph by Archimandrite Sergius (Pushkar) “The Life, Missionary Activities and Teachings of St. Nicholas of Serbia (Velimirovich)”.
The monograph is based on a doctoral dissertation defended in 2022 at the University of Thessaloniki (Greece) by a graduate of the Moscow Theological Academy, Archimandrite Sergius (Pushkar).
The purpose of the monograph is to give a holistic picture of the life and theological heritage of one of the most prominent hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church of the XX century. In his youth, St. Nicholas (Velimirović) studied at the best European universities like Bern (Switzerland), Oxford (Great Britain), Geneva (Switzerland) and the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. His further life path included the management of the Ohrid Diocese, his stay in the Dachau concentration camp and his church activities in America.
The author, Archimandrite Sergius (Pushkar), Abbot of the Monastery of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos “New Gracanica” in Chicago (Novogracanica and Midwestern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church), as well as the Vice-rector and Professor at the Theological Seminary of St. Sabba Serbian Orthodox School in Chicago.
The book will be useful both for specialists in the field of Church History and everyone interested in modern history.
