The «Faces of the Academy», a second season
On December 13, a presentation of «Faces of the Academy» project took place at the Great Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy. It included a video interview with Hegumen Lazar (Gnativ), Dean of the Church singing art faculty.
The Bishop Kirill of Zvenigorod, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy and an editor-in-chief of the Bogoslov.Ru portal, greeted the audience and drew attention to the importance of preserving the academic heritage. Some teachers stared at the first season of «Faces of the Academy» (2012-2015) passed away, so the project has acquired a timeless significance.
«If these interviews had not been filmed, then a part of spiritual heritage and teaching experience would lost for many of us», — Bishop Kirill noted.
Priest Anatoly Kolot, a producer and a presenter of the second season, Deputy rector for grant work, an deputy editor-in-chief of the Bogoslov.ru portal, told about the backstage of the project.
«Our team tried to adopt a format following some current modern trends of YouTube shows, — emphasized priest Anatoly. — At the same time, we tried to make them fir to the format and content reflecting a life of the Moscow Theological Academy in its best way».
Priest Dmitriy Artyomkin, a scientific editor of the Bogoslov.ru portal and a lecturer at the MThA Theology department, recalled some working moments such as preparing questions and anticipating problems in interviews with teachers of the Academy, who are not public people.
It turned out that there is luck of information about a good half of our heroes, — said priest Dmitriy.— So, we realized that we were going in the right direction, simply telling about them».
Since the first season of «Faces of the Academy» was released, YouTube has changed dramatically and become a kind of "new television", noted Daniil Sidorov, an editor-in-chief of the Bogoslov.ru. «So, I hope that what we’ve made meets the highest criteria» .
Hegumen Lazar (Gnativ), Archpriest Mikhail Vakhrushev and Priest Anthony Borisov, heroes of the second season, also addressed the audience.
Working on the project, they managed to keep the internal academic core in the way of presenting the materials. It is very important, noted Hegumen Lazar. He also expressed his wish that the teaching and spiritual tradition would be passed on to further generations.
«Now we cannot fully realize all benefits of the project. Its value will certainly grow in the coming year», — added Priest Mikhail Vakhrushev.
Despite all the internal and external changes, the Moscow Theological Academy retains the main thing, which is the tradition set by St. Philaret (Drozdov), — emphasized Priest Anthony Borisov.
The evening ended with questions from students and announcing plans for the third season of the project and the restart of the Bogoslov.ru website on a new technical base.
