Sunday services on the Day of the Church Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council

On June 13, the Holy Church recalls the deeds of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicea in 325. 318 holy fathers present there, condemned the heresy of Arius, who taught that Jesus Christ is not God, but only His highest creation. Also, the Church Fathers compiled a first part of the Orthodox Creed, which finally consolidated the doctrine of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

On June 12, Archimandrite Platon (Igumnov) headed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

On June 13, Archimandrite Benedict (Knyazev) celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by the clergy of the academic church.

Before the Holy Communion, Hegumen Meletiy (Sokolov) delivered a sermon:

«There was no time when there was no Lord Jesus Christ. He created the world together with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Today, the Church remembers the First Ecumenical Council, where the concept of the consubstantiation of Jesus Christ, the second person in the Holy Trinity, to God the Father was established. Since then the Church has preserved that dogma that is vital for our salvation».

On June 13, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Smolensk Church of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
