The Academy celebrated the memory of Sts. Cyril and Methodius the Equal-to-the-Apostles

On May 23 and 24, festive services in honor of Sts. Cyril and Methodius the Equal-to-the-Apostles teachers of the Slavic took place at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

On May 23, the Bishop of Skopinsk and Shatsk Pitirim officed an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by the academic clergy.

On May 24, Archimandrite Venedikt (Knyazev) celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with teachers and students in the priesthood.

At the litany, special prayers were raised for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

After singing the sacramental verse, Alexander Leventsov, a first-year Master's student, delivered a sermon:

«For more than thousand years, the Slavic language has preserved the word of God in worship and prayers. It should be seen as a sign of a great blessing that the Lord bestowed on our ancestors at the time when their national self-determination had been just forming.

The feat of Saints Cyril and Methodius the Equal-to-the-Apostles is universal and has a great influence on the each subsequent era and nations helping people to find their way to the Divine truth. The key thing is an opportunity to preach the word of God in a way that captures human minds and hearts. Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles brothers once opened the door for the Slavic. They give them a chance to accept the Christian faith and reunite with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church».

After the dismissal, the clergy sang the glorification to Sts. Cyril and Methodius the Equal-to-the-Apostles.

St. Cyril is a patron saint of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
