A seminar dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin)
On November 4, the Church History Department of the Moscow Theological Academy hold an online students’ seminar dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the death of Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) (1822-1891), who was an honorary member of the Moscow Theological Academy (1884) and Abbot of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius’s Lavra (1877-1891). Archimandrite Leonid was a church historian, a bibliographer, a archaeographer, a translator and an honorary member of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society.
Alexey Konstantinovich Svetozarsky, Head of the Church History Department, opened the seminar with his welcoming speech. The speakers were:

- Feodor Shugai, an undergraduate student, "Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) as an Abbot of the Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery"
- Kirill Andreevich Cherepennikov, a lecturer, “Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) as an Abbot of Holy Trinity St. Sergius’s Lavra in Professor A.D. Belyaev’s diary"
- Ilya Cherkashin, an undergraduate student, "Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) as a historian of Eastern monasticism."
- Sergei Deikun, an undergraduate student, "Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) as a historian of Russian monasticism."
- Andrey Varezhkin, an undergraduate student, “Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) and St. Philaret of Moscow”.
