Academy honoured the memory of Reverend Kirill and Maria
On January 30 and 31, the Church honours Reverend Kirill and Maria, Parents of St. Sergius of Rdonezh. The holy spouses was an image of a true Christian life and raised their three children, Stephen, Bartholomew and Peter, in piety and the fear of God.
The great fruit of their virtuous life was evident to everyone in an image of St. Sergius, who was chosen from the mother's womb and became an example of a great ascetic feat.
О великом подвиге Кирилла и Марии говорит их плод, который лучше всяких красноречивых похвал свидетельствует о их сопричастности ко Христу. Ведь Господь избрал еще от материнского чрева и подарил святой семье будущего великого подвижника Русской земли — преподобного Сергия Радонежского.
Partakers of beatitudes of Christ, a good image of an honest marriage and care for the children, the righteous Cyril and Mary, the fruit of piety, who showed us St. Sergius, altogether fervently pray to the Lord asking to give us spirit of love and humility, so that in peace and unity of mind we will glorify the Trinity».
On January 30, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, performed an All-night Vigil at the Intercession Academic Church.
On January 31, the Rector celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.
After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.
After singing the sacrament verse, Priest Dimitri Baritsky delivered a sermon.
At the end of the service Bishop Theodorite congraluleated Hegumen Meletiy (Sokolov) on his birthday.
