The Academy honored the memory of its heavenly patron St. Philaret of Moscow

St. Philaret (Drozdov), Metropolitan of Moscow, is undoubtedly one of the brightest church figures of the Russian Church in XIX century, who devoted his strength and talents to strengthen and develop theological academic science in Russia.

For most of his life he was associated with Moscow theological schools. Archpastor often visited the Academy and took an active part in its life. It is no coincidence that the Academy was often called after him, “Filaretovskaya”.

On December 2, Archimandrite Hilarion (Forkavets) celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church co-service by the academic clergy.

After the Sacramental verse, Hieromonk Philaret (Zubov) delivered a sermon. In his speech, the preacher spoke about the works of the saint and his virtuous life.

The day before, December 1, Archimandrite Luke (Golovkov) officiated the All-Night Vigil.

Sergey Popov, a fourth-year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon.
