The Academy celebrated the Cathedral of John the Baptist
On January 20, solemn services in honour of the Cathedral of Prophet John the Baptist took part at the Intercession Academic Church.
Prophet John the Baptist is one of the most revered saints in the Orthodox Church. He lived on the edge of the Old and New Testament era preaching about the Messiah. Having baptized Jesus Christ, Who was the One expected, John witnessed the mysterious revelation of the Most Holy Trinity.
The Prophet preached repentance and baptism as a way of cleansing a soul. He prepared the Jews for meeting the Savior. Before going into the Jordan River, people had to confess their sins and change their way of thinking.
On January 19, Hegumen Daniil (Vasilenko) led an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.
On January 20, Archimandrite Benedict (Knyazev) celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Church.
At the end of the service, Archimandrite Benedict and the clergy of the Intercession Church sang glories to John the Baptist.
