The Academy prayerfully honored the memory of St. Seraphim of Sarov

Today the Holy Church honors the memory of St. Seraphim of Sarov, who is one of the most revered Russian saints.

From his childhood, St. Seraphim strove for God and at a young age went to a monastery. Twice he was visited by the Mother of God and once during the Divine Liturgy he saw the Lord Himself. The Reverend greeted everyone with the words: Christ is Risen, my joy! Христос Воскресе, радость моя! И каждого старец одаривал неподдельной любовью и вселял надежду на лучшее. После блаженной кончины святого люди со всей России стали приходить к раке преподобного за помощью и утешением.

On January 14, on the eve of the saint’s repose and the second uncovering of his relics, Hegumen Lazar (Gnativ), Dean of the Chorister’s faculty of the Moscow Theological Academy, led the polyeleos service at the Intercession Academic Church.

On January 15, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in an academic church. 

Before the Communion, Hieromonk Vyacheslav (Sorokin), Vice-rector for educational work, delivered a sermon.

At the end of the Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite and the clergy of the academic church performed songs of praise to St. Seraphim of Sarov.

Then, Bishop Theodorite greeted Hegumen Lazar on his 55th anniversary and awarded him with a cross with decorations.
