His Holiness the Patriarch ordained an Academy teacher into a presbyter
On March 10, 2024, on Sunday of the Last Judgment, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
Upon arrival at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church venerated the icon of the Holy Trinity and relics of St. Philaret, Metropolitan of Moscow.
During the service, Archimandrite Pavel (Krivonogov), a graduate of the Moscow Theological Academy in 1998, was consecrated as Bishop of Troitsk and the South Ural. The newly ordained hierarch, elected to episcopal service by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on December 27, 2023 (Journal No. 127), became the Bishop of the Trinity Diocese of the Chelyabinsk Metropolis.
At the Liturgy, His Holiness was concelebrated by a host of bishops of the Russian Church. The Bishop of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy and Abbot of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, presented at the service as well as the clergy of the Chelyabinsk Metropolis, the clergy of Moscow and the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra.
During the service, His Holiness ordained Hierodeacon Philaret (Zubov), a senior teacher and a methodologist at the Biblical Studies Department of the Moscow Theological Academy, into the rank of hieromonk.
At the end of the Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill encouraged Bishop Pavel of Troitsk and the South Ural to serve and presented him with the bishop’s staff.
According to a tradition, the newly ordained bishop gave the faithful his first archpastoral blessing.
At the end of the Liturgy, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed an assembly with the Primate's word.
