His Holiness Patriarch Kirill contributed to the collection of the Moscow Theological Academy Museum

His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill handed an antimension dating back to the time of His Holiness Patriarch of All Russia Tikhon over to the Moscow Theological Academy Museum “Church-Archaeological Cabinet”.

The antimension is a handwritten figurative cloth of the early XX century painted in color.

Nowadays, the Moscow Theological Academy Museum “Church-Archaeological Cabinet” has one of the largest antimension collections containing more than 700 items. There are both handwritten and printed antimensions, the earliest of which dates back to the second half of the XVI century.

The gift of His Holiness greatly complements the antimension collection of the XX century, which is poorly presented in modern museums in general.

The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, teachers and students thank His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for such an exceptional gift.
